The family is the basic and most important building block of society. A strong family produces stability, security and a sense of belonging. When families disintegrate, the products are crime, foster children, prisoners, and citizens relying on the government for their subsistence.
The state government must do all it can to promote family–friendly legislation. Any legislation must allow parents the fundamental right to direct the upbringing and education of their children while also holding parents responsible for the safe and healthy upbringing of their children. The formula is simple. Disintegration of the family equals disintegration of society.
Every child deserves to be loved and includes those not yet born. There are more couples seeking adoption than there are available babies. We must do all we can to help those who are considering an abortion to have a community structure easily available to them that will allow for their unborn child to become the wanted and loved child of an adoptive family. Abortion kills a child and harms the mother. We will never know how much love and talented individuals have been forever lost through children never given the opportunity to live their lives.
Children are the most important resource our state and nation has. As we have devalued them, we have allowed the opportunity for our country to devalue our elders and consider health care legislation that would limit treatment options to our seniors.
